Workplace Health and Safety Act 1995 (PDF Version)
The purpose of this act is to ensure that people can work in a safe environment without fear of injury or death resulting from unsafe practice and preventable hazzards.

Workplace Health and Safety Regulation 1997 (PDF Version)
This ensures that the workplace is regulated across Queensland and lists various hazzards, such as asbestos, dangerous events etc and how this affects the Queensland workplace.

The Codes of Practice:
These are a set of standards of which the Queensland workplace must meet. There are four codes, including; Code of Practice for Working Near Exposed Live Parts, Code of Practice for Electrical Work, Code of Practice for Works, and Code of Practice for Electrical Equipment - Rural Industry. Until November 2004 these were called the Advisory Standards.

Ministerial Notices:
A Ministerial Notice states the unsafe practice and risk to an electrical workplace which requires immediate action. The Workplace must change its practices to what the Ministerial Notice states.

Employees in Queensland:
As an employee in a Queensland workplace, it is obviously quite important to follow the Workplace Health and Safety Act and Regulation to ensure that no danger comes to other employees or to yourself.

Occupational Health and Safety Issues in Graphic Design:
Occupational Health and Safety Issues that may arise in the field of Graphic Design are issues such as poor eyesight from viewing a computer screen all day. It is important to step away from the glare of a computer occasionally. An aching back may also arise from bad posture and a poor quality computer chair which may not be set up at the correct height in front of a computer. Another issue which can arise is Graphic Design, or anything other creative or design industries is working with paint and poor ventilation. Many paints which are used in these fields of work use oil based solvents which can often cause rashes or headaches. Good ventilation and different paints on the market can help with this issue.
